Louise, 34, Dublin

When I had my daughter, Alex, I’d already decided to become a SAHM.
I had a 3 year old, Josh, and knew there was no way I would be able to work in a full time city centre job.  Previously I’d been a manager in Standard Life, so it was quite an
adjustment to spend all my time with small people!  After a year, I really needed something to keep my mind working, but not back to an office job.

I was invited to a Captain Tortue party but couldn't go, I looked on the website to see what I was missing.  It was exactly what I was looking for - a job with lots of flexibility so I could still be a SAHM, but with fringe benefits - the clothes!  I haven't looked back.

I've just finished my first season and it was way more successful that I could have imagined.  I have two beautifully dressed children to add to the picture!  Friends and family were so supportive, as were all at Captain Tortue.

I really enjoy the work and as an added bonus, I've made some great friends, both colleagues and clients, many who are SAHMs too, so its an extra network of support.  I would recommend it to anyone.  If you like to dress your kids (and yourself) in beautiful clothes, and you enjoy meeting people, this is a fantastic opportunity for you.

Gaby 40- Dublin

Two years ago a friend was visiting from Manchester and I was admiring her three daughters clothes, she told me she was a Consultant with Captain Tortue. I contacted the company but was so busy with a 2 year old and a newborn, I didn’t take it any further at that point.

I went back to work full time, putting two kids in a crèche, but decided it was such a struggle I would leave and become a SAHM. It terrified me and I was soon about to start looking into opportunities to work from home, when Captain Tortue contacted me to see if I was still interested. What fantastic timing, and an AMAZING year I have had since then.

I love what I do and my only regret is I didn’t do it earlier. I can afford to put the baby in a  crèche  3 days a week and my daughter is in school and loves to help me in the afternoons.

I took on Miss Captain this season and have not had to buy a stitch for myself or my girls all winter. My family and friends have been a great support and my husband is well used to seeing his wife skipping out the door at 7pm beautifully dressed to do a party somewhere. He’s not complaining as I’ve just bought him a wide screen TV for Christmas!

I’ve made great friends and 2008 was a big year for me, I turned forty lost almost 3 stone and most importantly, found a work life balance that I LOVE.
